Job brief

Manage the day to day operations of all demand within specified areas by the managing director. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a dedicated team of employees (direct reports) to ensure delivery of all demand under your responsibility

  • Engaging contact with customers, discussing requirements over the phone and if interest is expressed, travel to customer.

  • On arrival at customer’s premises survey the site, estimate work involved and provide preliminary quote

  • Negotiate terms and final quote and enter into service agreements with interested parties

  • Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labour used.

  • Acts as liaison for existing and new customers to respond to enquiries, enter into further agreements or make amendments to current agreements

  • Lease with project team, supplier, and customers, external third party contractors or any other interested parties to ensure that contracted work is completed in line with timeframes, costs and any other terms agreed to.

  • Source and arrange replacement material, sub-contractors, construction professionals if any issues are experienced with usual providers, ensure the contracts with customers are not impacted and alternate provider is used

  • Keep records of all noteworthy developments and advise senior management on progress and any issues.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on all active projects 

  • Frequently travel to sites to ensure that contractors and other MTN employees perform their responsibilities to an adequate standard.

  • Maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment.

  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.

  • Work with supervisors to complete projects.

  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition. Such as electrical tagging of power tools.

  •  Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

  • Other duties could include working in other areas of the maintenance department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects as specified by the managing director.

  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Department.

 

Requirements

  • Ability to train team members to operate hand and power tools and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. 

  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent districtwide travel.

  • Manage a diverse team of employees 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have New Zealand Diploma / Degree qualification in Business / Management.

  

Work Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year New Zealand Management work experience

  • Relevant industry experience is highly preferable

 

Certifications:

  • Health and safety certification is preferable
